It is the most eye-catching match this Sunday in La Liga as the two teams are often quite interesting to watch the meeting in Donostia. Both sides have some players who are really talented in their ranks but it is not always for positive results in recent weeks with neither side found a lot of consistency.
Real Sociedad are riding high in the 5th place but they have not won back-to-back league games since October. They won a 4-3 thriller at Osasuna last time out so they have to take confidence into this despite having let their opponents back into the game which should really be dead at 3-0. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have scored more than La Real this season which is certainly evidence of attacking talent they have in their ranks but they are against the four highest scorers in La Liga here so it promises to be a good one.
Villarreal has scored in all their away games so far this term but despite that they are still suffering six defeats road with the problems of defense from last season continues to hamper them despite numerous personnel changes. They have looked a bit more solid in recent weeks although with only one goal conceded in their last three games and Yellow Submarine did head into 2020 following back-to-back league wins including an impressive victory at Sevilla.
That should give them plenty of confidence heading into what is on paper the same fixture challenge yourself. Both sides should be at or very close to full strength here which could only serve up what may be the most watched game of the weekend in La Liga.
Prediction
Real Sociedad has been in goalscoring form very well lately, scoring 14 goals in their last three games.
Alguacil's side struggled to a 4-3 away win against Osasuna last time, with El Sadar very difficult place to go.
Villarreal have won their last three in a row, even taking three points against a very competitive team like Sevilla and Getafe.
