Germany – 1. Bundesliga

Match Preview

Niko Kovac's squad is now two points behind early leader RB Leipzig, having won two and drawn two of their opening fixtures.

One draw came last week in Leipzig, when Bayern made the electric start to the match and opened the scoring through Robert Lewandowski, the purpose of which a third minute penalty canceled by Emil Forsberg.

They had no such problems at home to Red Star Belgrade in their first match in the Champions League this season, cruising to a 3-0 win with the help of Lewandowski and Thomas Muller goal after 79 minutes, after taking the lead in the first half through Kingsley Coman.
Koln arrived pretty big underdog as far away from the Bundesliga the following season, losing three of their first four games, although coach Achim Beierlorzer will have been encouraged by the manner of their performance last week.

Beierlorzer side lost by the only goal of the game at home to bitter rivals Borussia Monchengladbach, leaving the Rhineland derby in vain following the brave performance against an opponent who climbed to fifth in the table.

Three points from their first four games give Koln many points as they had after 16 games in 2017-18, the season they were relegated.

They probably have more than most scared of striker Lewandowski, who has scored nine times in 11 league meetings against them.
