NICK KYRGIOS
Nick Kyrgios won five sets of thrillers against fellow Australian Jordan Thompson in the most entertaining match at Wimbledon this year.
Kyrgios featured all the advantages of his entertaining game against Thompson, playing sporadically from his skin for points that were almost impossible and basically conceding the fourth set 6-0 before the rally to win the fifth 6-1.
The 24-year-old will now face Rafael Nadal, who was beaten earlier this year at the Mexico Open before calling the Spaniard "super salty" at a press conference and starting unresolved hostilities.
RAFAEL NADAL
Rafael Nadal was barely in court before firing Yuichi Sugita from Japan and advancing to a tantalizing second round match against Nick Kyrgios.
The last world number two was eliminated from Wimbledon in the second round stage by Dustin Brown in 2015, and was eliminated in the 16th round of the previous year by Kyrgios.
The Spaniard shared a 3-3 record with Nick Kyrgios, nine years younger than him, with Nadal usually bringing both wins on clay but Kyrgios won their Wimbledon match before and their last meeting.
