One of the three teams to be crowned Gold Cup winners, won the tournament in 2000, Canada qualified for the 14th time by finishing second in Concacaf League Nations qualifiers, winning all four of their matches with a +17 goal differential.
Les Rouges reached the 2017 Gold Cup quarter-finals, losing to Jamaican finalists, 2-1. In a closed training match on June 10, Canada defeated Trinidad & Tobago, 2-0, at the Titan Stadium on the Cal-State Fullerton campus. Scott Arfield scored twice.
Martinique
Martinique competed in their sixth Gold Cup and like Canada, Les Matinino went 4-0-0 during Concacaf League Nations qualification, grabbing their place in the Gold Cup by finishing in third place.
Martinique, the all-time 3W-9L-2D in the Gold Cup, had the best performance in the tournament in 2002 when they reached the quarter-finals where they were eliminated by Canada with a penalty after a 1-1 draw.

Canada opened the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a match against Martinique, travel to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena as a heavy favorite to bag points and go down with the right foot - with a rather convincing five-game winning streak behind them.

Les Matinino has a problem on the road, and it feels as if Mario Bocaly's troops are unable to maintain stability, despite a rather softer schedule. We now expect them to face challenges but Canada must have what it takes to overcome them.
We will thus remain with Canada to secure points but not without conceding, because we are gripping so that they win and Yes to both teams to score - which combines 13/5 that is eye-catching.
