TEAM NEWS
HAITI
Haiti continued to produce big surprises when their dreams of CONCACAF's 2019 Gold Cup campaign made it reach the semi-finals after falling from two goals to beat Canada in the quarter-finals.
Haitians found themselves two down on the break but with the tournament out looking at their faces, Duckens Nazon took his team back to contention before an own goal equalized the game with 20 minutes remaining and their comeback was finished by Wilde-Donald Guerrier with 14 minutes remaining.
A brilliant victory ensured Haiti retained their 100% record in the tournament but now faces Mexico's pre-tournament favorites in another big match when they try to finish an unthinkable with their team set to remain unchanged.
MEXICO
Mexico needed a penalty shootout to advance to the Gold Cup semi-finals because they overcame Costa Rica after being held to a 1-1 draw at normal time and a goalless extra-time.
Raul Jimenez put his team ahead before half-time but Costa Rica equalized seven minutes into the second half which was the end of the score until a shootout with Mexico managed to overcome Jimenez's loss with an opening kick as they finally locked the 5 -4 win.
Mexico are far from the best against Costa Rica and may be forced to make changes in midfield with Jonathan dos Santos struggling with a muscle injury while Andres Guardado is still in doubt after missing the quarter-finals.
Preview
Apart from their contrasting pedigree at this level, El Tri is not able to underestimate opponents who have beaten the regular World Cup in Costa Rica and the Canadian team which has been ranked high in the last two matches.
Marc Collat's side certainly did not know when to lose, after rising from behind in three of their four winning matches in the US this summer.
That confident attitude made them dangerous opponents for favorites, who barely looked solid in the back after only keeping one clean sheet in 17 matches.
