Peru
Despite having a one-player advantage for the final 15 minutes of their opening match against Venezuela, Peru were unable to break their opponents - like Brazil four days later - to leave pressure on Bolivia.
Ricardo Gareca's squad is a strong favorite to come out on top against the lowest ranked competition team, but things that don't fit into the plans at the iconic Maracana.
Peru had some bright moments in the first 10 minutes, tested the opposing goalkeeper and then shouted a penalty, but they had no idea in the final third and left behind from a controversial penalty.
Chasing Marcelo Moreno's penalty in the 28th minute, La Blanquirroja slowly began to find the rhythm and they leveled before half-time when old striker Paolo Guerrero showed he still had it by tapping the ball past Carlos Lampe and rolling it into an unattended goal.
Guerrero also played a big role in Jefferson Farfan's 55th-minute goal, which was added by Edison Flores on the breakaway at the end to add a little gloss to the 3-1 scoreline.
Peru are far from the best in Rio, and with Venezuelan favorites to take three points from Bolivia in the other Group A match on Saturday, they must target one point from their meeting with Brazil.
After their comeback victory over Bolivia, Peru are unbeaten in their last seven Copa America matches, winning four and drawing three - the longest unbeaten record in the history of the competition.
This match is not enough in the category to be won in the same way as Bolivia did - in Gareca's words, at least - so La Blanquirroja can decide to take more defensive approaches to claim the points they want. catch up.
Brazil
For the second match running, the Brazilians were booed by their supporters because they failed to find their way past the stubborn Venezuelan team in Salvador on Wednesday.
Following a weak 3-0 win over Bolivia who ranked low in their opening match, with all three goals coming in the second half, the Selecao worked hard for the most part - arguably playing better than they did in their opening - but could not find a goal they chase.
Brazil had the ball behind the goal three times at the Arena Fonte Nova, but all three were scored, including second-half efforts from Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho - heroes in the first match with a brace.
If the Tite people find a way out, they will be able to effectively get the group wrapped up for this last round-robin match. However, they must avoid defeat if they want to finish at the top, preparing what should be a better round of 16 match.
They only managed to fire one shot against Venezuela - at least in one match during the last four Copa America tournaments. At the other end of the pitch, Brazil have recorded clean sheets in each of their last eight Copa America home matches, conceding last at home in this competition in 1989.
The Selecao also extended their unbeaten record with a deadlock in Salvador, making it 12 matches without defeat since losing 2-1 to Belgium in the World Cup quarter-final last summer.
The defeat, though, combined with the recent record in major tournaments, explains why supporters remain skeptical about the current crop.
Only by going far in this year's competition at home will Brazil really win over their enthusiastic and enthusiastic fans. The first step to achieving that is to show good against Peru on Saturday to advance in the top position.

Prediction of Peru vs Brazil
This will be difficult. Listen to me. On paper, Brazil seems to be an extraordinary favorite, but their gameplay hasn't impressed even fans. In the first match, they are expected to sing three points, but the small team Bolivia held them for 50 minutes, before conceding. Even then, it needs some individual magic.
The next match was against Venezuela, and with all the obstacles it ended in a goalless draw. Weak Venezuelans keep the mighty Goliath from scoring goals, and in their own backyards.
Say what you want about Neymar Jr, but his absence is definitely not something to be taken lightly, which is a general atmosphere before the start of the competition.
Now, both teams are advancing in hopes of becoming group winners. Note that, Peru have been impressed with their defense and only included one goal from their two matches, and thus, the four matches combined between the teams, saw a total of goals conceded.
Peru has the opportunity to end the group peak, if they record victory here. We can expect them to survive like crazy, and Brazilian violations that fail can be prevented at least for the first 45 minutes. What's more, with so much at stake, and two good backlines in the game, we can count on the game as a low scoring business.
